I'd like to strap all them nimrods down into a chair, get out my all-in-one turntable-radio-cassette thing with two tiny transistor speakers and stack up a selection of the dirtiest copies of Motown and Spector 45's possible, at top tinny volume and do the frug in their face, two times. They'd be a lot closer then to the real experience of what music is supposed to be about, particularly rock and roll. Kama-tie-yi-yippie-ay papa-oom-mow-mow, motherfuckers.

You need to use a turntable where you have to put a nickel on top of the tonearm to keep the record from skipping...

Well speaking as one of those nimrods, I don't see anything wrong with the existence of a forum where folks can go to compare the sound quality of the various re-issues flooding the market or complain about the sorry state of most mastering these days.

Ultimately, it's all academic anyhow as the CD medium is in its death throws, being replaced with digital downloads that make your all-in-one transistor record player sound like an SME 30/2 by comparison.

You, sir, are a hypocrite. Didn't you post Dr. Ebbetts versions of albums because they supposedly sound better than the official CDs? And didn't you point out a couple of times that the Pet Sounds / Carl & The Passions So Tough twofer had the best version of Pet Sounds? You surely did not find this with tiny transistor speakers.

Admit it, you are as much a music nerd as the typical Hoffman forum poster.

We couldn't afford that, so I used a stack of pennies, Commadore Decker.
